Welcome to he & she's blog! This is THE happening spot, let us tell YOU! This is where the newest and grooviest things take place. This is where we post our latest sessions, travels and other random stuff for all of you to check out.
The "he" in this relationship refers to a fellow named Randy, and the "she" is his wife Erin. Through our combined forces, we have become he&she - the picture taking, crime fighting duo! (Minus the crime fighting part).
We are the kind of people that like to make other people happy. We like to surround ourselves with happiness and photograph it. It’s as simple as that!

Thank you to our TWO voters yesterday! Lol, I take it my post wasn’t very interesting :) Some days I feel like a comic trying to come up with material for a show every day of the week! Alas dear voters, you were both wrong. However, I will still give you virtual high fives :) The first picture was me (Erin) and the second was Randy. I chose those images carefully, with trickery in mind.
Below is Blossom hard at work. On any given day, you’ll find her slaving away at her desk:
Shot this with my iPhone, so unfortunately you can’t hear her snoring very well :)
Since we’ll be at WPPI, we probably won’t be able to post Monday or Tuesday. Happy Friday, everyone!
There has been so much hipe for WPPI this year. It’s pretty exciting, especially because it’s our first year attending. We pretty much have no idea what to expect! For those of who don’t know, WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) is a giant photography convention out in Las Vegas. EVERYONE goes, as it’s a great way to socialize with other photographers and check out vendors. I think it’s a way bigger deal than I’m even imagining! I was just going to throw some jeans and t-shirts in our suitcases and head out, but these last few days I’ve been seeing tweet after tweet about the dilemmas of what to wear and bring…. So something tells me I’ve got some outfit planning to do! For you fellow photographers who will be attending, we’ll be arriving Sunday and leaving Tuesday. No firm plans yet, except for Airhorns and Lasers :)
And now for another episode of whose is whose! The aim of the game: try to figure out who took which picture. These of course are from Matt & Nicole’s engagement session.
They are very different pictures, and there’s no real reason behind who took which picture (as both ideas were a collaborative effort). We’re simply curious to hear your guesses and why! The winners get a virtual high five :) (Sorry Matt & Nicole, but you don’t get to participate!)

Initially, Randy and I felt a little foolish for rescheduling Matt & Nicole’s engagement shoot because the gloomy forecast (because it didn’t actually end up raining!) But man are we ever glad we did! We’re so grateful the sun decided to come out last Sunday because this shoot wouldn’t have been the same without it! We weren’t even sure if the wild flowers would be in full bloom yet, but all the rain we’ve been having must have coaxed them into sprouting early!
Matt & Nicole are exactly as I imagined they would be. They are super fun and have a wonderful sense of humor! When the “hardest” part of our day was trying to keep these two from cracking up in every single picture, you know the shoot was awesome! Can’t wait for the wedding in June! Here are some of our favorites:
Thanks for braving the mud and those vicious flowers, Matt & Nicole! We had a blast :)

Lots of women have long hair. I never understood that. It’s probably because, when I had long hair, simply attempting to put it in a ponytail was a nightmare! Long hair was just too challenging for me. For some reason or another, I started growing my hair out when I was 17 and hardly had it trimmed until I was 21. I kept it long for our wedding, but then I chopped it all off as soon as we returned from our honeymoon. I haven’t had long hair since and am pretty decided that I never will again! Ever since I was a kid I knew short hair was just more “me”.
Anyway, sorry to make an entire blog post about hair, but I’m very excited about my next haircut today! Shout out to my mother in law for her awesome skills! I don’t know how it happened, but one day I looked in the mirror and realized I had a bob-cut. Nothing against bob-cuts, but it just isn’t me. So, in order to rectify the situation, I’m cutting it short(er)!
I think it’s my brother Justin’s fault that I started shaping my hair after Shannyn Sossamon, but for some reason I never got gutsy enough to truly try and pull it off. I know you’ll all lose sleep at night worrying about my hairstyle :) But you have to “cut” me a break – it’s slow season!
And yes, I am aware I look nothing like Shannyn, but I’m hoping the shape of this cut works on my face! Happy weekend everybody.
February 26, 2010 - 9:51 amariel - I can't wait to see it! I have always loved that girls hair! I would totally do it if I had the guts, you're going to look gorgeous!! :)
February 26, 2010 - 10:35 amShelly - You're way cuter!! can't wait. Are we going darker too?
I used begging, pleading and tantrums to convince my parents to get me a dog when I was 17. And not just any dog – an Australian Shepherd! I wrote an eight page research paper on Australian Shepherds in high school – that’s how badly I wanted this dog. I can’t thank my parents enough for eventually giving into my teenage outbursts, because Blossom has been the ultimate “gift” that has kept on giving. She has taught me so much and given me (and now Randy) so much joy :) I can’t imagine life without her. I also can’t wait to give my kids the same gift one day!
Oh my little girl – the best subject I’ve ever photographed. She doesn’t need any coaxing, direction or treats. She simply loves the camera :)
The tail-less wonder :)
Teddy. Blossom’s puppy. She grabs him by the scruff and prances around the house with him :)
February 25, 2010 - 10:28 pmErin W. Anderson - This makes me want a dog sooo bad (stupid apartment building rules)! She is so adorable! Wonderful representation of her! I love them!
March 3, 2010 - 11:06 pmbradleywalter - Just came across your blog and am immmmmpressed. Just wanted to tell you about that... LOVE these pet pictures - really took me over!
Perhaps some of you are familiar with Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest. It’s a daily devotional that Randy and I read together every day. It’s a wonderful daily reminder for us to keep our minds and hearts centered on what’s most important. It’s amazing how each entry can speak so directly to a situation in our lives!
One of the resent entries especially resonated with us. Chambers introduced it by saying, “Perseverance is more than endurance. It is endurance combined with absolute assurance and certainty that what we are looking for is going to happen. Perseverance means more than just hanging on, which may be only exposing our fear of letting go and falling.” He then closed the entry by saying, ”If our hopes seem to be experiencing disappointment right now, it simply means that they are being purified. Every hope or dream of the human mind will be fulfilled if it is noble and of God. But one of the greatest stresses in life is the stress of waiting for God. He brings fulfillment, ‘because you have kept My command to persevere…’ (Revelation 3:10). Continue to persevere spiritually.”
I believe there are two categories of dreams in life. There are the little dreams that would simply be fun and cool (ie my dream of owning a Vespa), and then there are the big dreams that we know we are here to fulfill (ie my dream of having a family). The latter is a dream that I feel God has planted in me, whereas, obviously, the Vespa is purely a want instead of a need. There is no guarantee that we will get what we want in life, be we can be sure God will always provide us with what we need. It just takes patience and perseverance to see it through. We must rely on His strength, not ours. These lessons are easily applied to photography too. There are the little dreams that would be awesome if they happened, and then the big dreams that we know we are destined for. In our situation, both are requiring patience and perseverance at this point in our lives. Perhaps others of you are experiencing the same thing?
February 25, 2010 - 1:07 amluke - great entry today. God has opened my eyes and my heart many times through Oswald's words and perspective. Kate and I have enjoyed some time together in Utmost as well and look forward to more to come after our wedding. Thanks for the encouraging words.

I have an obsession with wheeled things. Yes – bikes, skooters, skateboards, rollerblades, motorcycles, you name it. I’ve always been intrigued by devices that get me from point A to point B in a fun way :)
One of my biggest wheeled-dreams is to own a Vespa – a 1960’s Vespa. The new ones are cool enough, but they just don’t quite have the charm of the old ones. We’re trying to sell one of Randy’s old dirt bikes (a Yamaha TTR-90 if you’re interested) and in the process of posting an ad on Craigslist, we came across some Vespas. As we were clicking through the list of ads, we came across one so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. Literally. This is the most beautiful Vespa I have ever seen in my life! Check this out!
Is this not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? I mean seriously! And it’s “only” $4,500! Too bad that just isn’t in the budget right now, which is why I will totally take donations in exchange for free rides! :) Come on, you know you want a ride on this thing. I’ll even let you sit in my side car!
You know where to find me if you feel like being generous :)
February 23, 2010 - 8:49 amLotje - Wow that really ìs a beautiful Vespa! And imagine what a cool prop it would be for wedding/engagement-photos!!!
You should totally buy it.
We had so much fun this weekend at the wedding shower we threw for my brother, Justin, and his fiancee, Susannah. Randy and I have never been in charge of planning an official gathering like this before. Since my parents handled most of the food, and my other brother and his wife handled the drinks, Randy and I handled the decor! It really brought out our crafty sides! I will admit Randy is much better at crafting than yours truly, but I think this experience may have opened a new chapter of interest! I love building things and drawing/painting, but prior to this, they’ve never combined forces. Randy and I had a lot of fun designing and crafting together :)
I can’t believe the wedding is almost a month away! I can’t wait! Here are a few pics of the decor and the lovely folks who attended :)
The soon-to-be bride & groom :)
A preview of the wedding: kicking off the shoes!
Shuffle board? Hard!
Susannah’s sister, Juliet, made a custom card, and it had everyone busting a gut!
Congrats again, Justin & Susannah! Can’t wait for the wedding (and the rest of the pre-wedding events!)
February 22, 2010 - 1:01 pmSusannah - LOVE the photos! But, even more, LOVED spending time with everyone this weekend! Thanks again for planning this special day - I am so lucky to becoming a part of your family. xoxo
